Current workshop offerings include:
Trans 101 and Beyond
Workshops about creating and strengthening transgender inclusion, wherever you are. An introduction to the basics of gender, trans identity, and trans experience, with opportunities for a deeper dive into trans-inclusive policies and actions, and practical skill-building for acting in solidarity with transgender communities.
LGBTQ+ Allyship: Solidarity Into Action
An introduction to being an active ally to the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities—an opportunity to go beyond terminology, turn words into action, and understand the bigger picture of gender and sexuality and how it impacts all of us (but don’t worry, we’ll cover terminology too). Learn about LGBTQ+ history, get excited about the ways we can all be a part of moving things forward, and build real-life skills for creating LGBTQ+ inclusive institutions and communities.
Transgender Health
Training and consulting for healthcare providers and institutions on how to provide clinically and culturally competent, affirming care for transgender patients and clients. Learn the basics of gender and trans experience, find out what you need to know about transition-related healthcare, and take a closer look at how to identify barriers to care and address them in your work. Practice skills like taking a trans-affirming health history and discussing your trans patients’ reproductive and sexual health needs, using standardized patient scenarios and other interactive activities.
LGBTQ Health
Training and consulting for healthcare providers and institutions on how to provide clinically and culturally competent, affirming care for LGBTQ patients and clients. Learn about the wide range of LGBTQ identities and experiences, explore LGBTQ communities’ health needs, and use that knowledge to address LGBTQ healthcare disparities in your work. Practice taking an LGBTQ inclusive health history, and hone your skills in discussing gender and sexuality with all of your patients and clients in an open-ended, non-stigmatizing, sex-positive way, using standardized patient scenarios and other interactive activities.
Healthcare Self-Advocacy
Skills for self-advocacy and navigating healthcare systems to get the care we all need and deserve. These workshops are customizable to a variety of communities’ specific needs, including youth, trans people, LGBQ+ people, people with disabilities, and elders (and all of the ways those communities and needs intersect), but are generally applicable to anyone who will ever need healthcare (so, all of us). Come up with the plans and tools that will work for you and your unique combination of skills, learn how to read your health insurance documents, build strategies for dealing with planned and unplanned healthcare interactions, and figure out how to ask the questions you want to ask.
Teaching Trans Health, Understanding Trans Inclusion
Workshops, presentations, and individual coaching to help build and strengthen your skills for teaching about transgender health and inclusion. These workshops and coaching sessions provide interdisciplinary tools for approaching this material in ways that are effective, accessible, and trans-affirming, cover the nuances of making sure your conceptual frameworks are solid from start to finish, address different types of resistance and how to respond to challenging participants, and build skills for facilitating in an empathetic and engaging way.
LGBTQ Inclusion in the Workplace
Consulting and training focused on ensuring your workplace is providing the best possible environment to help all of your LGBTQ employees thrive. From employee benefits, to internal policies, to overall workplace culture and beyond, we’ll work together to assess your needs, identify opportunities for growth and improvement, and ensure that your organization is leading the way in LGBTQ inclusion.
Additional topics available upon request. I’m also an award-winning storyteller, and offer workshops and individual coaching in storytelling as a tool for art, activism, and community advocacy.
